Last week, my partner, Colin, came up with the idea of building a small Man to burn this weekend while everyone was enjoying the "big burn" up in Nevada . It was a fun project Colin and I started a few days ago to throw our extra creativity into, and a great way to pay homage to that event we hold so dear....

I’m just pleased as peaches to order a 1” self-inking stamp online. I just got it in and can already see the possibilities: Stamp it on some stationary! Stamp it on receipts! Stamp it on my cat! …Well, maybe not my cat.

Just a quick note. Prepare for the Playa was a fun and successful event. I loved checking out the fun fashion shows... especially those done by Five and Diamond . HOT!

Orders are taking slightly longer due to the wool dread rush just before Burning Man . Thanks for your patience, make sure to order dreads before August 16th if you want them before Burning Man.

Ever since I discovered that there was such a thing, I have wanted to have a real ostrich egg to cook and eat. Although this has been a long desired dream of mine, I was completely floored when my best friend (and often NifNak craft fair booth babe ), surprised me with an ostrich egg for my birthday.

Yesterday I hosted a lasagna feast over my house for a bunch of friends to celebrate my birthday. During the party, dear friend surprised me with these froggie pj’s that she made just for me --- how sweet is that? They are sooooo freakin’ cute! When I saw the added touch of little froggie heads as buttons, I think I almost peed. JOY!

Based of my current family of critter desk pets, I recently decided to experiment with a lesser know critter, the adorable wombat.

One of the most endearing parts of the wombat, is its huuuge snozzle, long talons, and itty-bitty ears. I only have the magic of youtube to aquaint me with the adorable little sounds wombats make.

I'm back from a successful build

So I just rolled in from 10 days up in the Nevada desert, constructing the wooden man which is the central figure at the Burning Man Festival .

It was a nice change of pace to be creating art with my hands which involved power tools. Sure felting needles can get dangerous if you are tired or distracted, but it’s nothing compared to working with an air gun, or a chop saw, or my personally challenging equipment, the table saw.

There was too much to see and do at Maker Faire , witnessed by record number attendees. Luckily, I asked my partner run around to scope all of the cool stuff for me, so that during my break I could squeeze in as much cool Makers as possible. My highlights were playing with ferro fluid with super strong magnets, scale model battleships that really shoot each other down with tiny bee-bees, a vacu-form demonstration, getting zapped by a tesla coil, beautifully crafted steampunk art by Nemo Gould [...]
